You know the sky right before a storm — when the light goes strange and everything feels heavier than it should. “Auric Storm” lives in that space.

Gold pushes in from one side of the canvas. Charcoal and black gather on the other. Olive and amber tones blur the line between them, bleeding into each other the way real weather systems do. There’s no clean horizon here, no clear separation between light and dark. That ambiguity is the point. Storms don’t announce themselves with sharp edges.

The surface carries subtle texture throughout — not heavy impasto, but enough variation to catch light and shift slightly depending on where you’re standing. Look at it straight on and you get one read. Move to the side and the golds brighten, the darks deepen. It’s a small piece that rewards attention.

And despite all that gathering darkness, the palette stays warm. Those golds and ambers keep it from tipping into something cold or bleak. There’s tension here, but it’s not uncomfortable. It’s the kind of tension that precedes release — the pressure before rain finally comes.

At 16 x 20″, this is intimate scale. It works in smaller spaces, hallways, offices, or as part of a larger collected wall where you want something moody without overwhelming the rest.
