“Awakening” doesn’t ease into anything.

Lime green and chartreuse pour down the canvas in vertical streams. Violet cuts through. Hot pink shows up where you don’t expect it. Coral, teal, forest green, yellow — they’re all here, layered on top of each other, bleeding together in places, staying distinct in others. Black gestural marks slice through the color, adding contrast and pulling structure out of what initially looks like pure chaos.

That’s the trick with Controlled Chaos: it reads as unplanned until you spend time with it. Stand in front of this piece for a minute and the underlying rhythm starts to emerge. The drips aren’t random. The color placement follows a logic. There’s a pattern here — you just have to look for it.

The texture is substantial. This isn’t a flat surface with paint on it; it’s built up in layers, thick in some areas, thinner in others. Light catches it differently depending on the angle. Fine calligraphic lines weave through the drips, adding detail that only reveals itself up close. It rewards the kind of looking that most people don’t give art — but if you do, it gives back.

At 48 x 60″, this piece needs space. It takes over a wall. It changes a room. Hang it somewhere it can breathe, and it will return the favor.
