The Wave Over Me series is deeply important to me. Over the past two years, I’ve created well over 50 pieces in this collection — and every single one incorporates real sand from New Buffalo Beach into the sand area of the painting. Each piece is different, but they all share a similar vibe: calm, comfortable, relaxed. When I work on these, I feel like I’m standing in the water, part of the lake itself. I often tell people not to let things wave over them, and that’s the energy I bring to these canvases. The series comes in a range of colors — the lake changes constantly, and many collectors enjoy tropical tones as well. The most meaningful part for me is embedding that New Buffalo sand into the work, and I also offer custom pieces using sand from any beach in the world.
