If you’ve watched the sun go down over Lake Michigan, you know why this collection exists.

“Believe” captures that moment when the sky opens up — cobalt blue at the top, deep and saturated, giving way to bands of burnt sienna, amber, and gold as the light drops toward the horizon. Below, teal-green water stretches out calm and still, catching the last glow of the day. The whole thing feels suspended, like the pause between exhale and inhale.

This is the New Buffalo Glow collection at its core. The series is built around the sunsets that define Harbor Country — that specific quality of light over the lake that people drive hours to see. “Believe” doesn’t try to document it. It translates it. The brushwork builds dimension into the clouds, layering warm tones over cool so the sky seems to shift depending on where you stand and how the light in the room changes throughout the day.

The palette is deliberate: that cobalt isn’t just blue, it’s the kind of blue that makes the gold feel warmer by contrast. And the teal water grounds the whole composition, keeping it from floating away into pure abstraction. There’s enough realism here to feel like a place, but enough looseness to feel like a feeling.
